Life is oftentimes bittersweet.  The realisation that we had to close our beloved Pie Shop, The Daily Pie was one of those bitter times.  While we packed and cleaned we had a constant knot in our throats.   One day, Sarah and I went up to the shop, intending to take pictures and write descriptions for the sale of equipment.  (I had been up there previously, alone on a few occasions, just wanting to 'think'.  I was adjusting myself to the prospect of no longer having the shop). As she approached the pie display fridge, (which we endeavoured to keep choc-full of ample pies, beautifully arranged) she took a step back and declared " feels like I'm selling my soul.." 

This little heart-declaration caused us to postpone the photo session until... well.....we still haven't returned for that, but we will.

There is so much that goes on behind the scenes in the hospitality industry.   I knew straight from the start, that we would never have been as successful if it wasn't for the help of a VERY DEAR FRIEND of ours, fondly known as "Cheffy".  He helped us regularly, without return or promise of return. He is generous of heart, methodical, punctual, reliable - a perfectionist and a true gentleman. The unsung hero (to us, anyway).

And so, it is farewell to the old, as the promise of something new breeds unpredicted, yet sweet excitement!

I am so sorry to hear that you have closed the Pie shop.I so enjoyed your blogs while you were setting the venture up,the photos,your families hard work etc,I was swept along with your enthusiasm.You have your reasons for closing,whatever they are,but I am so sorry that it did not work out for you.
I hope the future gives you a new dream and happiness.

Oh my goodness, I'm sorry to hear about the closing of the pie shop also. Your whole family was so excited and did so much work on setting it up.

May whatever comes your way next fill the void and heal your hearts.

I feel your pain, closing and selling one's dream is not easy. Having said that, you have the right attitude " the promise of something new breeds unpredicted, yet sweet excitement!" Indeed, something sweet is just around the corner. Best of wishes on your next endeavor.

Oh my word...that is such a surprise. I'm so sorry it didn't work out. If I feel sad (and I do) I can just imagine what you and your family feel like after putting your heart and souls into it.

You will bounce back because you are the type of family that can never stay down too long.

Our trips to Canberra (very infrequent), and hence past Collector rarely coincide with business hours otherwise I was going to pop in for a pie. I think I could have made it (as a solo, tired motorcyclist this time) in May, but only on a Saturday. Ah well, it wasn't to be.

 Table talk amongst our children is and always has been, -  a rabbit warren . We start off in one hole and end up in another -  quick smart....
